DB2 Application Database Administrator for Canberra,Australia

Work Location : Canberra,Australia

JD :
  • Assist in developing future DBA architectural directions and consolidation of infrastructure, high availability and DR solutions; 
  • Undertake daily administration, including monitoring system performance, ensuring successful backups; 
  • Create, maintain and manage databases with respect to security, backup/recovery, monitoring; 
  • Ensure databases and systems are available & reliable so they meet SLA’s; 
  • Develop, document and maintain database housekeeping scripts; 
  • Resolve issues and problems related to the databases such as performance tuning, backup & recovery and setting up the database environments for System Development Life Cycle (SDLC); 
  • Analyse, test and promote changes to the environments following SDLC; 
  • Install, configure, migrate, upgrade and testing software, patches and tools; 
  • Provide specialist technical advise to users and assist the developers in database design, optimising the database and SQL statements to maintain acceptable database performance; 
  • Monitor, report and plan database capacity; 
  • Establish documented standards and best practices for database administration; 
  • Maintain the existing documentation and create new ones; 
  • Lead in solving database problems (such as performance tuning, backup, recovery and setting up environments). 
Preferred Qualifications, skills and experience:
  • DB2 UDB DBA skills (current with 9.1, 9.5, 9.7 & 10.0); 
  • Familiar with High Availability technologies; 
  • Hands on experience with sun Solaris, windows and AIX operating systems; 
  • Good Unix and Perl scripting skills; 
  • Understanding of communications in relation to database administration; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Preferred IT degree or relevant experience; 
  • At least 8 years IT experience and 4 years of db2 database experience.
